Hey! I thought I’d make this vlog video on how my street performances went in Santa Monica in March. Performing on the pier was the most difficult performance in my life because I was convinced that my bow was going to fly away in the wind. However, I loved performing, despite the wind and rain. Santa Monica has a great system for street performing and from the weekend I was there, it seemed to work really well and so it is my favourite place I have street performed so far!
Recently I got to do a little interview for a section of a radio show covering what it is like to be a busker in York and how it is to street perform. I was happy to talk about my experiences and hope that you will enjoy listening.

Not only this, but we managed to get VIP tickets back in April, and so we also got to meet Brett and Eddy and attend a Q&A before the show! Today I though I’d bring you along busking with me, and show you my street performance set-up, equipment and everything about how I street perform with my violin. I realised there lots of videos like this for guitarists and singers but there are not many videos on YouTube about a violin busking set up, so I hope you find this helpful if you, yourself, want to street perform as a violinist!
In this vlog, I go to a wedding fair and perform my violin, my Dad helps me set up the equipment and the banner because I’m too short and couldn’t reach… 4 days later we both perform at a beer festival at a building built in the 1300’s in the 14th century in York! I wanted to learn this ABBA song and I thought I would film and show you how I learn all of my songs by ear. This song took me about 10 - 15 minutes to learn, some songs take 5 minutes and play them in one try, others take 30 minutes to an hour. My time learning a song by ear has definitely got faster since I started learning songs like this a couple years ago but the time they take also depends on how well I know a song and if I have heard many times before or not.
Since the beginning of this year, I have been on a search for a new violin. My old violin has served me very well over the past 3 and a half years, however, I had never been to a violin shop to try violins before as I bought mine online during 2020. As I am short, my hands are quite small so I was looking for a smaller violin. I recorded the journey from January to July and I hope you enjoy the video

This is my 4 year violin progress video - I hope you enjoy it. I used to play violin when I was younger but I never practiced and became very un-motivated and so I quit. About 4 years ago, I started to play again, self-taught learning pop songs using a mixture between violin tabs on YouTube and learning by ear. I got a teacher in March 2021, who I have weekly online lessons with to work on classical music. I now love to play violin and I’m so happy that I picked it back up again.
When I filmed this video, it was the 22nd September which was the one year anniversary of the Stephen Sanchez debut album ‘Angel Face’ and so I decided to play the whole album from start to finish in the beginning of my street performance set! I hope you enjoy this little montage of the songs.
